Download an Emergency Medical ID Card here!
Every year, we have many thousand guests from almost every country of the world staying with us. Many of our guests come just for a short trip to Berlin, others are on a long trip and travel all over the world.
With that many guests, many different things can happen. Most of them are nice and funny but unfortunately, medical emergencies are also part of what can happen on a trip.
Over the years we have experienced many “small” situations, like the flu or a twisted ankle. Unfortunately we also had to come across a few more serious medical emergencies.
While our team is trained in first aid and Germany has one of the fastest and best medical emergency systems in the world, we have experienced that it can be hard to find basic information about a guest or their relatives in an emergency situation.
That is why we urge all travellers to take a few easy steps as a precaution:
- Have an Emergency Medical ID on you at all times. You can download one here. Keep it in your wallet – it’s a great help for first aid no matter where you are!
- Get travel insurance. It is quite cheap and well worth it! Ask your health insurance company about available options, book it with your flight or ask Google.
- Leave copies of your itinerary, your passport and your medical information at home with someone, so that you or an emergency worker can get access to it
- And finally, if you are travelling on your own - tell us about it!
If you are travelling to Berlin, we might be the only ones who know exactly how long you are scheduled to be here. So we might be the only ones who have a chance to miss you right away if something goes wrong.
If you feel like mentioning to our reception on check-in that you are by yourself, we’ll take extra good care of you and we will take it seriously as soon as we miss you!
