Spring has sprung and the city’s slowly starting to come out of hibernation. We’re very excited about the plans for the “Behind the Curtain” program in April, but before we take a closer look at that, let’s have a little recap on some of the highlights in March.
The month of March started off with a visit to one of our favorite Berlin based distillers, “Our/berlin”. Here we got the chance to check out their hideout to see where the magic takes place. Not only did we get a tour of their distillery, but we also got the chance to learn how vodka is made, and meet the team who makes is happen. Oh, and we got to taste their product as well. Lecker!
Every year in March the ITB comes to town, and along with it, loads of travel professionals from around the world. This year we were pleased to have travel blogger Kash Bhattacharya join us for a special talk under the banner “Modern travelling in the digital world”. The evening was loads of fun and a great insight into the world of modern blogging and travel writing. It’s always great to have Kash with us each year, especially because his birthday coincides with our annual Hostel Hoff museum party. On the subject of travel writing, in March we also hosted an evening with Marcel Krueger, author of Berlin: A literary Guide for Travelers. Together with local writer Paul Scraton they discussed the book, as well as some of their favorite Berlin writers and their works.
There were many other great events that took place in March, some other highlights were “Nosh Berlin” – Jewish food week, a gallery tour through Kreuzberg, walking tours through the neighborhoods of Wedding and Neukölln, the relaunch of the Circus street art tour, and a conversation with Corin Arnold about Berlin in the nineties and its counterculture club scene.
Which brings us to April! Highlights to look forward to are:
A walk along the Berlin wall, a trip to Devils Mountain (Teufelsberg), craft beer tasting with “Berliner berg”, International record store – day neighborhood record store walk, a visit to an authentic dumpling manifactor, and much more. For more details checkout our website events calender.
