What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you say Berlin? Späti beers, open air parties, Berghain? You wouldn’t be the first… Although mainly know as a destination that caters to the needs of young people who are well into their drinking age, there is another side to this enormous city that you may not know about….

Berlin is extremely kid-friendly!

To prove that Belin can be an amazing destination to bring your kids to, here’s our top 3 picks for activities that will make your kid fall in love with Berlin and you rediscover your inner child!

1. Tiergarten, Zoologischer Park and the Aquarium

If there’s one thing all kids love, it’s animals! Especially when surrounded by the biggest park of the city! Best part? It’s smack in the middle of it, so you don’t have to worry about extra time for driving and waiting for overcrowded parking lots.

As the name of the park already suggests (tier in German means animal), the actual Zoo is a part of the park. From pandas to tigers, monkeys and flamingos, there’s more than enough exotic variety to keep your young one entertained for hours. And let’s be honest here, visits to the zoo pretty much never get old, no matter what your age might be. Just look at this gorgeousness!

If, however, water is what they prefer, you’ll be thrilled to hear that the Aquarium is right next door! Whether you want to combine the two or keep them as a separate attraction is totally up to you. Just keep in mind that the Monkey Bar is waiting for you to reward you for all the patience you put in!

2. Tempelhofer Feld

One of Berlin’s biggest playgrounds, this airport-turned-park is full of possibilities for the entire family! The space is bigger than you’d expect and the mixture of grassy fields and former landing strips for planes make it an ideal place to do sports, grilling and sunbathing without having to change locations. Once the sun is out you can literally spend the entire day there and it will not be a day wasted!

3. Naturkunde Museum

Museums don’t have the best reputation with kids, we know. The usual reaction falls somewhere between eyerolling and gasping in boredom. But Berlin’s Natural History Museum defies this, as one of the more popular options for kids. Why? Maybe the giant dinosaur skeletons have something to do with it… Or the countless jars full of disgustingness that may make the parents cringe but will fill the kids with joy!
