How far would you go for a good night’s sleep? Well for our Jim, Circus shareholder and dream weaver: the answer is Reykjavik, Lille, Singapore and Hamburg…the reason being so that you, our guest, can enjoy a better kip and ultimately, a more enjoyable dorm room experience whilst staying with us at the Circus Hostel.
Inspired by his travels, Jim and his team of Circus Superstars including interior design extraordinaire Sandra and Hostel Manager Eliese, worked in cooperation with local, bespoke furniture manufacturer, Oertel, using Jim’s research and findings in the field, to create a truly unique, high-quality design concept that is exclusive to the Circus.
The wood and metal aesthetic with fluid lines and minimalist feels combine sleek Scandi form with a futuristic Asian capsule design, creating the perfect-pod-sleep-solution, developed with your comfort and convenience in mind.
Jim concluded that for the ideal bunk bed, a strong, solid and stable construct was paramount for diminishing noise and movement from others in their neighbouring beds. Clever construction allows for generous storage of your travel bags in your own locker, with an integrated lockable safe for valuable items like your passport, money, and tickets. Not only does this give you greater peace of mind when keeping your belongings safe and secure, but this design opens up the floor area, capitalising on the space and thus contributing to the flow of the room.
This extra floor space allows further space for a window-facing writing desk overlooking the wonderfully satisfying, voyeuristic Berlin-Mitte street views – giving you no doubt ample creativity whilst you sit and write your debut Pulitzer Prize winning novel or travel blog post…
The ergonomically designed bunk’s features include a shelf with plug point, ideal for charging phones, and a reading light, which reduces the need to turn the dorm light on and off, again resulting in a better, undisturbed sleep. The bed’s sliding door provides valuable privacy, (a rarity in dorm living!) as well as providing an open space for those that prefer it.
These beds can be found in 3 of our newly designed concept rooms, which are currently being tested during this exciting beta stage. So far we have received fantastic feedback from our guests who have stayed in the new pod beds and we are really enjoying this period of development, which includes our newly designed roof top honesty bar at the Circus Hotel, our innovative technology to keep the sun facing rooms of the hotel cool during these summer months and… wait for it… installing the fastest wifi in Berlin at the Circus Hostel!
We will endeavour to keep experimenting with new ideas, keep pushing the envelope and keep bringing you the ultimate in travel accommodation, which in turn keeps you coming back home to the Circus – and keeps you inspiring us to go further too.
