I recently attended a festival called Pure and Crafted which took place at the end of August. The idea behind the weekend was to bring together motorbikes, hand-crafted heritage products, art, and fashion.

I was invited to this festival by Ben from Movember. Movember, if you don’t know already is an organisation that raises money each year to bring awareness to men’s health. Men start the month of November clean shaven and over the course of the month do their best or worst to grow a Mo (slang for moustache).

At the event there was a raffle for specialised motorcycle helmets. According to what I read on Facebook they collected around €900 and more by asking the invited guests to leave a little something behind for the cause.

Now the reason I mention this is because this year I will be organising a Circus Mo Bro team. I hope to get as many of our male staff members involved as possible and watch them grow the finest of moustaches. At The Circus we will also be holding an opening event with some music, and we will end the month with a final party to inspect the Mo Bros and their hopefully impressive moustaches. There will be drink specials on the night from some of our sponsors and the money from these drinks will go towards the organisation.

Throughout the month we will have a Drink For Charity Hour. When our guests purchase a bottle of Beck’s the company will donate 50 cents to the Movember charity. For all guests that are registered as a Mo Bro online they need to come down to the bar and we will verify that they are registered and they will receive a free bottle of Beck’s.

We will also do a few unique things to raise money like taking our plastic deposit bottles that we find laying around the hostel to the shop and donating the deposit. We hope to raise a little bit of something for the charity but we also know that money is not always the most important thing. The reason for a Mo is that it is altering your appearance so that people ask questions about why you are growing a Mo. As people question, a dialogue unfolds and this creates awareness around the topic. So as well as contributing, we are also encouraging an awareness of men’s heath.

Stay tuned for our events and of course our Circus Mo Page should you want to donate to your favorite Circus Mo Bro. Again a big thanks to Ben from Movember for inviting us to the Pure and Crafted. We look forward to making this a successful year.
