Unless you’ve spent the last couple of months under a rock, you know that starting yesterday and ending July 15th, it’s all about Europe’s most worshipped sport – FOOTBALL! TVs are installed in every café, bar and späti that could stomach the costs of public airing (thanks GEMA), and who are we to be the exception? So, if you find yourself around Rosenthalerplatz wondering where to watch the next match from, worry not! You’ve come to the right place!

And what better thing to add to the general frenzy and cheering mania than beer? And what better beer than craft beer? Yes, apart from being a bar with a TV (and by TV we mean a huge screen with an HD projector beaming games onto the screen in the best resolution possible), we are also a microbrewery! So, come down, put your feet up and enjoy a cold one while you cheer your team on!

Excitement is beyond words at The Circus, and with so many nationalities in the house, we just might be the most vibrant place to watch it from! And we take it very seriously. After years of experience, it only made sense to turn our little tipping competition into a full-on strategic project that involved everyone from management to housekeeping. And let’s not forget the neatly outlined chart that gives everything a nice visual touch. If you’re staying at our hostel these days, you might have noticed this confusing monstrosity of jumbled letters, numbers, names and countries.

Let us explain.

The “mess” you see is really not messy at all! See, apart from being the founder and master mind behind The Circus, Andreas Becker is a passionate football fan. And when we say passionate, we mean P.A.S.S.I.O.N.A.T.E. Don’t believe us? Watch him as he gets on his way to witness the World Cup live from the homeland of vodka and babushka. And to make things more interesting (or straight up dangerous), he’s doing the whole trip on his motorcycle. Follow his progress here:

And while Andreas is experiencing the frenzy live from the epicentre, we are making sure not to drop the tipping ball (pun intended) in his absence. It is now up to Andrew, our events manager, and Jimbo the hostel manager to make sure the tipping competition is running smoothly.

Intrigued?

If you’re a guest and come down to watch a game with us, you can be part of the “guest tipping” we’ll be organizing. Play it right and you might even walk away with some extra cash! Just go down to the bar when there’s a game on and ask the staff, they’ll give you all the details.

So grab your beer and let the football fever begin!
